newdo
The todo list where the list is an output, not an input.
Most todo apps make you maintain the list: fields, priorities, sorting, pruning. newdo inverts that. You type what you owe in plain words. It works out who it is for, when it is due and how big it is, then shows the few things that matter today, each with a reason. Correct it in a sentence and it writes a rule so the mistake never repeats.
Decisions that shaped it
- Spec before code. A one-page product spec fixed the object model and the screen before the first file existed.
- No model in v0. Dates, people and effort are inferred with rules. Instant, offline, private. A model can plug in later behind one interface.
- Local-first. Everything lives in the visitor's browser. No account, no server, nothing to secure.
- Ship, then measure. Success is whether the maker keeps using it after three weeks, not the launch-day number.
